First Step: Creating an Account

So you'd like to OneClick Digital?  You've heard everything you could find in NC Digital Library and you'd like more selection?  Then, OneClick Digital is for you!

To access OneClick Digital by clicking the link on the library's webpage and choose Create New Account.  You can do this either on a computer or on a mobile device internet browser (tablet or smartphone).

At this point you'll see two columns: the one on the left has some device/format options and the one on the right sets up your account information (Name, Username, Password, etc.)  Fill out the information on the right, then come back to the left column.

For the left column you'll need to make some decisions. First, for Library Information you'll need to decide whether you're interested in eAudio, eBook or All.  At this point, we would suggest limiting to eAudio, since the eBook selection is small and there aren't plans to add any eBook titles in the near future. Next, for eAudio Preferences, you'll need to choose whether you'll be using OneClickdigital Media Manager (mobile app and desktop computers) to access titles or to download manually (the Media Manager option is the recommended choice).  Both the mobile app and desktop Media Manager processes will be covered in this guide. Last, you'll choose your mobile device type (Apple or Other).

Once you've filled in all the information, click Create An Account at the bottom of the screen.

For a live walk-through of this process, access the Create an Account video.

Tips for Searching for OneClick Digital Titles

There are several ways you can search for titles:

One of OneClick Digital recommended lists: Featured (highlighted by OneClick Digital), Newly Added (just purchased for the collection), What's Popular (titles with the most checkouts)

General Search: Quick Search (search by Author, Title, or Narrator), Browse (choose a subject/genre from a list), and Filter (by eAudio or eBook)-once again I'd suggest looking for eAudio because the eBook selection is limited.

Specific Search: Use Quick Search, but leave the selection set to All and the search box blank, then click the magnifying glass. This will give you the entire list of titles with a column on the far right where you can narrow your choices: Availability (titles that can be checked out today), Fiction/Nonfiction, Genre (or subject), and Audience (Adult, Childrens, Young Adult).  You can also accomplish this by using the Advanced Search.

Once you have a list of titles, click the book cover for the title you'd like to get and it will take you to the Title Information page.  You can have up to 5 titles checked out for 1-7 days.  Click Checkout Now! and the title will be added to "My Collections", so click on its link at the top of the page.  You'll get a summary of your titles and other activity on this page.  To start listening to the book, click Download Now (this is also where you come if you want to return the title before the 7 days is up).

For the OneClick Digital Media Manager app only:

After clicking Download Now, you'll want to go back to the Audio player in the app, so click Close (top right of page in red, underneath battery indicator).  You'll need to "refresh" the My Titles page by pulling down on the white part of the screen.  You'll see an arrow that reads "release to refresh".  You can now start listening to the audiobook as it downloads by clicking the arrow on the far right side of the screen.

Installing the Media Manager Mobile App

Getting Started with OneClick Digital on your mobile device is easy!

Go to the app store on your device and search for "OneClick Digital" (the app is available from the App Store on Apple devices, from the Google Play store on Android devices, and Amazon appstore for Kindle Fires).

Follow the steps to install it and it will add an app icon to your screen.  Open the app icon and it will ask you to enter the username (user profile) and password you just created in your OneClick Digital account (it gives you the option to Remember Credentials--recommended).  The first time you open the app it will ask you to select your Region (North America).

Once you're in the app, you'll want to get a book. So, click Browse More Titles and it will take you to the OneClick Digital collection homepage. This process will be covered later in the guide.

You'll want to use the Advanced Search to narrow the results:

choose Format (eAudio/eBook)

choose Fiction/Nonfiction

the titles that are Available for Checkout today

among other options.

Once you have a list of titles, click the book cover for the title you'd like to get and it will take you to the Checkout Now! page.  You can have titles from 1-7 days and you can have 5 titles checked out at a time.  Click Checkout Now! and the title will be added to "My Collections", so click on its link at the top of the page.  You'll get a summary of your titles and other activity on this page.  To start listening to the book, click Download Now (this is also where you come if you want to return the title before the 7 days is up).

Installing the Media Manager for desktop computers

Once you've created your OneClick Digital account, you'll need to install the Media Manager that will allow you to play the audiobooks on your computer or transfer them to a mobile device.

One you've signed into OneClick Digital, you'll want to look for the link to Download Media Manager and click that link. You'll find it on the main page, or under the Help tab on the Player Tutorial page. An installation box will appear giving you the options to Run or Save, always choose Run. There will be a second box appear and you'll choose Run again. Several installation windows will appear, so just follow the instructions on each. You'll only need to install the Media Manager one time.

Once it has installed, the Media Manager will automatically open and it will ask for the username and password that you created in your OneClick Digital account, then click Login.  It is recommended that you select "Remember password". It will then ask you to Choose Your Library from a list (usually only one option offered) then click Login again.

From there you can manage the titles that you have checked out.  You can download them to the Media Manager to play on your computer or you can transfer them to a device.

The process is basically the same for WIndows XP and Windows 7 computers, but there are slight differences.  For more help on this, view the videos:

For Mac computers, visit the Mac App store to download the OneClickdigital Media Player (for OS 10.6 or greater).

Transferring titles to mobile devices will be covered next.

Download and Transfer Titles with Media Manager

Once you've checked out a title(s), you'll want to start listening to them. You can download them and listen to them on your computer, or you can transfer them to a mobile device using the Media Manager.

For each title, click on the cover and it takes you to the Title Information page.  On that page you can select a shorter load period (if you wish), you can add a title to a Wishlist, or you can Checkout Now! When you choose Checkout Now! the computer will prompt you to Open or Save the file, always choose Open and the title will open up in the Media Manager.

You'll then need to sign into the Media Manager then click Login. The Media Manager will automatically check for any new titles that have been downloaded and if you have the manager set to download titles automatically, any new titles will begin downloading. You can listen to other titles while its downloading.

After the download is completed, you have the option to transfer the title to other devices by clicking Download and Transfer. The media manager will then search for any devices you have plugged into your computer, so you should plug in your device to the computer at least 10 minutes before you begin the download process, so that the computer will recognize it.

Once it has found the device(s), you'll be prompted to select one as a default (which will remain until you Logout) the click Choose and the transfer process will begin. If you're downloading to an Apple device, iTunes will open in the background, but the title will not be added to iTunes. At the end of the process you'll receive a message that the download and transfer has completed successfully.  You can then "dismount" your device from the computer and begin listening to your title(s).

If you chose to download titles manually, there's a Download and Transfer button under each title and you'll click that button to begin the process. You can choose your download preference in Settings.

For a visual tutorial of this process, view the How to Download and Transfer Using the OneClick Digital Media Manager video.

Attention iPod Users:  In order to transfer titles, you'll need to work through iTunes and set it to "Manually Manage Music".
